62 Victoria St., Kensington - Demolished!

Today was a good news / bad news day!  I had to run up to Kensington late this afternoon and to my horror this lovely house on Victoria Street had been demolished and the hole was being filled in with fresh shale.  I expect it was demolished to make way for the adjacent service station!  Too bad!!
Here's a photo from Google Streetview...
Here's the aftermath photos!

  1. That house was for sale over two years ago, when we were looking for a house to buy on the island. Unfortunately there had been an oil tank leak on the property and the cost to remedy that was huge. I'm guessing that is the reason the house was torn down?

  2. Was looking at that property (Still for sale) five years ago. Should have bought it I suppose, the price was definitely low enough.

Ah well, more Island history being destroyed. Should be nice and sterile soon.
