Belle River Farmstead

This old farmstead is located not far from the shore on the Stewart Point Road in Belle River, not far from Wood Islands.

This house is in the Colonial Revival style popular during the latter quarter of the 19th-century.  These houses were often asymmetrical with hipped roofs.
This house is characterized by it's projecting 2-storey element with pediment roof and half-round window; wide eaves; square bay (at rear) and verandah.

  1. Found this place on one of my trips around the island. Wonder why nothing's done with the place, or if the folks that own it are even in the same time zone. Doesn't' look like anyone lives in it anymore.

Never was a fan of the asymmetrical style, but I'll definitely take it over today's offerings. Hopefully it's not lost to neglect like so many others

    1. It was tore down this past summer. Such a shame… was falling in though.

  2. Saw this one a few weeks ago. Still standing, but it's quite worse for wear.
